Webb17 mars 2007 · According to the Bible, Ezra recovered a copy of the Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) and read it aloud to the whole nation. From then on, the Jewish scribes solidified the following process for creating copies of the Torah and eventually other books in the Old Testament. WebbScribes Faithfully Transcribed. Old Testament scripture itself doesn’t give us a clear idea of when the books were assembled into the Bible we use today. But scholars believe the Old Testament canon was closed earlier than 200 BC. Too, they believe the earliest biblical manuscripts were transmitted in the oral tradition.
